The PDS Digital Fingerprint Capability (DFC), offers policing a state-of-the-art digital fingerprint capability, hosted on PDS Xchange– a secure, national, cloud-based platform, powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS).
How it works
The capability provides an end-to-end digital suite of tools that integrates with key policing technology and infrastructure used for fingerprints.
Benefits
- Access to more than 8.4 million digital fingerprint records, through DFC integration with Home Office Biometrics (HOB) IDENT 1 database.
- Fast tracks hits on fingerprints to support criminal investigations and investigators in real-time. This is fully enabled by the cloud-technology of PDS Xchange.
- Enables processing efficiencies and reduced data backlogs for investigations (equating to around £6.5m per year).
- Saves time, estimated to be around 3 days on average per case, based on operational crime scene submission and allocation of fingerprint evidence.
