The Asset Recovery IT (ARIT) is a new digital service being developed to replace the legacy Joint Asset Recovery Database (JARD). JARD is a restricted system used by over 180 government and law enforcement agencies across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland to fight economic crime and track asset recovery, in line with the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) 2002.
Since 2003, JARD has supported efforts to locate and seize illicit assets such as cash, property, vehicles, and high-value goods. However, its outdated technology has led to rising costs, limited integration, and growing concerns around security and data management.
What’s Changing?
The Police Digital Service (PDS), under the Anti-Money Laundering and Asset Recovery (AMLAR) Programme led by the Economic Crime Division at the Home Office, is delivering ARIT as a modern, cloud-based solution. The project is working towards a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) by September 2026, after which JARD will be decommissioned and agencies will transition to ARIT.
