PDS meet UK Minister for Police at Security and Policing Exhibition.
Today we were pleased to welcome Sarah Jones MP, Minister of State for Police and Crime, to the Police Digital Service (PDS) pod in the Government Zone at the Security and Policing Exhibition.
During her visit, the Minister met David Bailey Dip CIPR , Head of Events and Brand Engagement, to discuss the government’s ongoing police reform programme and the priorities for digital, data and technology across UK policing. These priorities align with the minister’s wider focus on improving performance, strengthening accountability and enhancing frontline capability.
Our conversation explored:
➡️ How the UK continues to lead in policing technology, supported by national digital services that protect the public and strengthen operational delivery.
➡️ The importance of modern records management, better use of data, and enabling the ethical use of AI to support timely and informed decision‑making on the frontline.
➡️ The role of mobile and always‑available technology in helping officers work more efficiently, reduce administrative burdens and spend more time in communities.
We also discussed the essential role played by the national Police Digital Service in providing secure, reliable and resilient technology for forces 24/7 – ensuring digital tools genuinely support officers whenever they are needed.
As policing continues to evolve, PDS remains committed to working with Government, forces and partners to ensure UK policing has the safe, secure and modern digital services it requires.
