Supporting Safer Internet Day
Safer Internet Day (8th February) marks an important point to highlight the work across policing to keep people safe from harm, in line with the National Policing Digital Strategy and the UK Government’s Cyber Security Strategy.
The Government is running a number of campaigns targeted at vulnerable audiences. We would be grateful if you could share campaign materials and messaging on your channels, and with your networks.
You can also find out how the Police Digital Service (PDS) is working to tackle cybersecurity risks and threats to policing and the public. A case study of a fake website, found by the PDS’ National Management Centre (NMC), highlights the ever-present dangers to the public.
UK Government initiatives
Stop Abuse Together aims to empower parents and carers to take steps to help keep the children in their life safe. Please find attached a digital toolkit for the campaign. All children have a right to be safe from sexual abuse, and we all have a role to play in keeping them safe. Let’s #StopAbuseTogether.
The #YouAreNotAlone campaign aims to raise awareness and signpost to information and support available for victims, family/friends and perpetrators of domestic abuse. You can visit the GOV.UK website and access campaign materials including a partner pack and translated assets.
The Ask for Ani scheme is operating in partnership with chemists/pharmacies across the UK. Posters and social media assets are available to download. For more information, materials or to provide feedback, please email AskforANI@homeoffice.gov.uk.
The Community Safeguarding Leaflet contains information and guidance for those who are still operating in communities to recognise the signs of abuse or neglect. The guidance covers the signs to spot and what to do if there is a concern.
