Press release – Police Digital Service (PDS) recognised for commitment to supporting parents in Tech Talent Charter report
The Police Digital Service (PDS) is proud to be featured in the Tech Talent Charter’s “Overcoming The Motherhood Penalty” report, highlighting its commitment to inclusivity and support for parents in the workplace.
The report showcases PDS’s exemplary parental leave policies and their positive impact on employees like PMO Planning Resource Officer, Will Taylor.
Will said: “The paternity leave offered by PDS has been such an incredible benefit. Being able to return to work after paternity at 80% of my contracted hours for full pay for the first month, allowed me to gently phase back into work whilst being able to still spend such valuable time with my newborn son and was a big help to my wife too. I will forever be grateful to PDS for helping to provide the time to create these moments and memories for my family.”
PDS offers industry-leading benefits for parents, including:
- Enhanced maternity pay of 26 weeks at full pay (subject to meeting the qualifying criteria)
- Enhanced paternity pay of 6 weeks at full pay (subject to meeting the qualifying criteria)
- All employees returning to work following a period of maternity, paternity or adoption leave can do so on a part-time basis at 80% of their normal working hours for the first month, whilst still receiving 100% pay.
“We are committed to supporting our employees at all stages of life, and our Maternity, Paternity & Adoption Leave policy is just one example of that commitment,” said Kath Stephenson, Director of People Services, at PDS. “We are grateful to be recognised by the Tech Talent Charter and to Will for sharing his positive experience.”
The Tech Talent Charter is a non-profit organisation working to address the gender imbalance in the tech industry. The “Overcoming The Motherhood Penalty” report investigates the challenges faced by mothers in tech and highlights companies like PDS that are taking concrete steps to address them.
