The Asset Recovery IT (ARIT) Project is an initiative led by the Police Digital Service (PDS) and delivered as part of the Home Office Anti‑Money Laundering and Asset Recovery (AMLAR) Programme, together with NEC Software Solutions UK Limited. It aims to replace the legacy Joint Asset Recovery Database (JARD) with a secure, cloud‑based national service that meets both current and future asset recovery needs.
ARIT will provide a single system for recording, managing and reporting asset recovery cases across UK policing, government bodies and local authorities. It will be designed to modern security, data and interoperability standards. The new system will support the full lifecycle of asset recovery under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA), helping ensure that criminal activity does not pay.
How it works
ARIT will replace JARD with a modern Software as a Service (SaaS) solution hosted in the cloud.
The service will allow authorised users to:
- Create and manage asset recovery cases;
- Record seizures, restraint orders, confiscations and disposal of assets;
- Support POCA enforcement activity;
- Manage and report Asset Recovery Incentivisation Scheme (ARIS) data; and
- Access consistent national reporting and insights.
Access will be available via the Law Enforcement Community Network (LECN) or the internet, depending on organisational requirements. ARIT aims to deliver an initial product by 2027, with a future roadmap for continual improvement consisting of key integrations with other law enforcement and government systems.
Benefits
ARIT will deliver clear benefits for organisations and users involved in asset recovery:
- Improved productivity through a stable, reliable platform designed around day‑to‑day casework.
- Enhanced security using Secure by Design principles and modern authentication.
- Reduced operational risk by retiring ageing legacy technology.
- Smarter data management with improved data quality, reporting and insight.
- Better collaboration through consistent national processes and data standards.
- Future‑ready capability able to adapt to legislative changes and emerging crime types, including cryptocurrency and international assets.
