Cyber training course for policing
The Police Digital Service (PDS) ran its first series of training courses aimed at information security professionals at its Wigan HQ last week. The course focused primarily on information security officers (ISOs), but also other aligned security professionals. The objective being to increase skills to assist in protecting organisations from cyber risks, threats and attacks to IT systems and infrastructure.
Aligned to the National Policing Cyber Strategy, this new training programme is supporting professional development for cyber-relevant policing roles. Alongside, ISOs, this includes senior information risk owners (SIROs) and information asset owners (IAOs), responsible for executive level management of information risks and compliance. Cyber security training is tailored to these roles and practical, delivered through a blended approach (classroom and digital).
The programme offers a combination of:
- Blended learning: classroom and online sessions, plus freely accessible resources.
- Role-specific and bite-sized content: relevant, practical materials designed to be easy to put into practice
Course information and training materials will be made available via a dedicated PDS Knowledge Hub area from Summer 2026.
