Enabling custody teams through video
Our Video Enabled Policing Programme (VEP) has now successfully achieved rollout of its PACE-IC solution in three forces. The capability is live in: Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, with Surrey and Sussex due to be online in the coming months.
The PACE Interview Coordination (PACE-IC) solution provides video and tech for scheduling, coordinating, and conducting remote video PACE interviews. Officers and staff can check availability on their calendar. This also means that third party professionals, such as, interpreters or defence lawyers can be easily booked in for interviews, via the system. By using video and automation, policing and criminal justice partners will be able to work more efficiently.
To assist local force delivery teams, the VEP Team was deployed within custody suites in each of the forces, providing Hypercare support to custody operations and stakeholders. The team is looking to continuously improve its support offer, so each rollout has been carefully reviewed to assess what has worked well and what could be better, fine tuning the approach based on feedback from forces.
Speaking about the solution and the support provided by the VEP team T/DCI Mark Corkin, Hertfordshire Police said: “Coming from a crime investigation background working with the VEP team has been a really exciting opportunity to help deliver digital innovations that save time for hard pressed investigators.
“Personally, it has also been a wonderful developmental experience working alongside some very skilled and knowledgeable people on the project.”
